Job Description
Okanagan Staffing Services is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper in Vernon BC with a long term established business to support the management of day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This is a key role requiring a strong commitment to confidentiality, organizational excellence, and precision. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate reliable multitasking abilities, and consistently meet deadlines while ensuring the accuracy of all financial records.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify and process financial documents, including invoices, receipts, and computer printouts
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Record and validate banking transactions with precision
Prepare and issue cheques, process online payments, and perform bank reconciliations
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial reporting requirements
Reconcile and maintain intercompany account entries
Perform General Ledger analysis, reconciliations, and investigate variances as needed
Assist with month-end and year-end journal entries, financial analysis, and closing procedures
Provide support during internal and external audits
Organize and maintain an efficient filing system for financial records
Uphold and enhance internal control systems to safeguard financial integrity
Education and Experience:
A Diploma or Certificate in Accounting or related field
In-depth understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Proven experience in bookkeeping and familiarity with accounting practices
Knowledge of relevant financial legislation and regulatory standards
Proficiency in bookkeeping software and relevant computer applications
Strong expertise in financial data management, analysis, and reporting
A minimum of five years’ experience in accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger
Experience in data entry, record-keeping, and computer operations
Advanced proficiency with Sage 50 Premium, Microsoft Office, and Excel

Excellent time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical skills, capable of reviewing and interpreting financial data efficiently

Strict adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of financial reporting and operations

Compensation: Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and relevant work experience.
